Founded in 2013 by previous leaders at Global Tower Partners. Global Tower Partners was purchased by American Tower Corporation in 2013 for an estimated sum of $3.3 billion. Phoenix Tower investors include funds managed by Blackstone (who previously invested in Wireless Capital Partners) and John Hancock.
Phoenix Towers is headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida. They now has 8,500 sites across 14 countries. They do everything from build-to-suit to tower relocations for companies such as T-Mobile and other major wireless companies.
On December 23, 2019, Phoenix Tower International announced they had entered into a purchase and sales agreement and a master lease agreement with Telefonica Ecuador for 1,408 tower sites in Ecuadaor. They also completed the purchase of 621 towers in Colombia from Telefonica Colombia.
On March 5, 2020, Phoenix Tower International acquired 197 wireless communication tower sites through the U.S. from Tower Ventures. Tower Ventures is a Memphis, Tennessee based cell phone tower operator that owns and manages 360 towers in the United States.
